So I am back in the States. I am sitting in NY after getting back from the beach and I am having some major reverse culture shock. It is incredible from going to such a poor place to America. I am amazed every time I look around.
But I will give you a little update about my last few days in Africa. So Friday night I went on an evangelism with Pastor Valentine and it was quite the experience. It was a rainy day and I didn't think that we would be able to have the evangelism, but that was the first time God proved me wrong. I got to Pastor's house that evening and we started loading up all of the equipment to show the evangelism film into the wet truck bed. Once we finished loading it all up the truck wouldn't start. And the truck looked like it should have been gotten rid of 10 years ago. But we got some peopleto help us puch start the car and we were on our way.And then within 5 minutes the car died. So Pastor opened up the hood and figured some stuff out and then we had to push start the car again. We then got to the gas station and filled up the generator and the car and then push started the car again. We headed off to the village. And the roads were extremely wet and bad. As we were going there was a deep puddle and ditch and Pastor slammed on the breaks and the car died..again. Then we tried to start it. And it wouldn't start and it wouldn't go into gear. It was such a pain. And this whole time I was thinking how we shouldn't even do this tonight because of the rain and the car and all the other circumstances. But Pastor kept on going and after awhile the car started and got into gear. We got to the village but as we were going to the spot we were going to show the film at, the car got stuck in the mud. And we had to push the truck while we were in ankle deep mud and water. We got the truck free and finally set everything up. We used music and videos to draw people from the village to come. And once people come they get so intrigued by the music and videos they stay and watch. And then we show afilm with the Gospel in it (something like the Jesus film). But the speakers were cutting in and out. Then the generator stopped working. And at that point I had no idea what God was doing. He had made this the most difficult night ever. And I was suppossed to give the message once the film was over. So Pastor asked me to give the message since the generator wouldn'twork. So I talked about how God was the ultimate sacrifice and how he came down to earth to be the sacrifice because he loves us so much. And also about how God is so large but so involved in our everyday life! God then worked through an idiot babbling college student and caused 2 people to respond and choose Jesus! I was overwhelmed and amazed seeing hwo God works and how we need to have faith that he has everything under control even when cars die and generators die and everything else seems like it is working against you. God is good!
Saturday I then finished my packing and said my goodbyes to everyone in the orphanage and the Pastors. It was a sad day but rewarding to see the relationships and even some of the impact I had. I got a couple souvenirs from people too such as a box of crackers and a certificate! We then left for Ouaga and got to see Eduard in the hospital. He looked so much better and I got to talk with him a bit. It was such a great thing to see him doing better. And now he is back in Yako! So praise the Lord that he is healing Eduard!
Sunday was leaving day. I got a couploe of souvenirs for friends and got to say goodbye to my Africa family and I left. And after a long day of travels I arrived in Ny to my wonderful girlfriend yesterday! And have been enjoying being here so much!
